The Marketing & Digital Content Associate is a creative, detail-oriented professional responsible for executing multi-channel marketing initiatives, managing digital content, and supporting audience engagement efforts for the Greenville Symphony Orchestra (GSO). Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Audience Engagement, this role plays a central part in bringing the organization’s marketing strategy to life, especially through dynamic social media content, digital storytelling, and on-site audience experiences.
This role owns GSO’s social media presence and content creation while supporting campaign execution, website management, and audience development initiatives. Working closely with the Development and Artistic Operations teams, including education and community engagement initiatives, the Marketing & Digital Content Associate helps translate programming, fundraising priorities, and audience initiatives into compelling digital content, campaigns, and in-person experiences.

HOURS/WEEK:
- 36 hours office work week, plus concerts and special events
- Full time, exempt
- Because this role involves close collaboration and on-site activity, it is primarily based on location. Limited remote work opportunities are available
RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media & Content Creation
- Manage and maintain all GSO social media platforms, including content planning, creation, scheduling, and publishing
- Develop engaging, high-quality content including graphics, short-form video, photography, and written copy aligned with GSO’s brand and programming
- Maintain and execute a consistent content calendar in coordination with marketing campaigns and concert cycles
- Collaborate with Artistic Operations (including education and community engagement programming) to capture and communicate programming, artists, and behind-the-scenes content in engaging and accessible ways
- Partner with Development to create social media and digital content that supports donor engagement, stewardship, and special initiatives
- Attend rehearsals, events, and internal meetings as needed to gather content and storytelling materials
- Monitor social media channels, respond to audience engagement, and foster a strong digital community presence
- Stay informed on emerging social media trends, tools, platforms, and content formats, bringing fresh ideas to GSO’s digital presence
Campaign Execution & Marketing Coordination
- Support the execution of integrated marketing campaigns across email, social media, web, and digital channels
- Coordinate timelines, assets, and deliverables to ensure campaigns are executed efficiently and on schedule
- Coordinate with Development and Artistic Operations (including education and community engagement initiatives) to ensure marketing campaigns accurately reflect organizational priorities and timelines
- Support cross-departmental campaign needs, including fundraising initiatives, special events, and community programs
- Build, format, and schedule email marketing campaigns, ensuring quality control and alignment with messaging
- Assist with CRM list pulls and segmentation to support targeted campaign deployment
- Maintain organized marketing assets and assist in coordinating internal and external creative resources
Audience Engagement & Front-of-House Experience
- Collaborate closely with Artistic Operations and Development to design and implement front-of-house audience experiences that align with concert programming and donor engagement goals
- Support execution of engagement initiatives that connect artistic programming with audience development and community engagement efforts
- Represent GSO at concerts, events, and community activities, serving as a welcoming and knowledgeable organizational presence
- Ensure consistent and professional marketing presence at performances and public events
Digital Platforms & Website Management
- Maintain and update GSO’s website to ensure accurate, timely, and compelling content
- Support campaign-related updates including concert pages, promotional content, and landing pages
- Assist in maintaining a strong and user-friendly digital experience across platforms
Analytics & Performance Tracking
- Monitor and report on social media and digital marketing performance metrics
- Use data and insights to optimize content strategies and improve audience engagement
- Support basic campaign tracking and reporting as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in marketing, digital media, communications, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging digital content, including graphic design and short-form video
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Comfortable engaging with patrons, partners, and community members in both digital and in-person settings
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and translate diverse organizational priorities into cohesive marketing content and experiences
- Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Availability for evening and weekend work, with the understanding that weekday schedules may adjust accordingly
Strongly Preferred
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand
- Proficiency with content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with video editing tools and social media content production
- Experience with email marketing platforms and basic CRM systems
- Interest in or familiarity with performing arts, music, or nonprofit organizations
- Awareness of current digital marketing trends, platforms, and audience engagement strategies
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Use of an office phone, computer and internet is required
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation
- This job will be based in Greenville Symphony’s offices in downtown Greenville
- A cell phone and remote access to e-mail and office files are required, as many tasks take place offsite
- Ability to occasionally carry materials or signage
