Master composer and “Russian Sorcerer” Mikhail Glinka casts a musical spell with his hypnotic Overture to Ruslan & Ludmila. This his “apprentices” display all they learned: be thrilled by the fiery and exotic fantasies of Stravinsky with his Firebird Suite; Borodin pulls out all the stops with his mighty and wild “Heroic Symphony” and exuberant Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor; and Rimsky-Korsakov delivers an array of dazzling orchestral colors with Capriccio espagnol.
This concert will feature a multimedia presentation of works created by students from the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities Visual Arts Department in collaboration with the Greenville Center for Creative Arts.
