Update: To make sure everyone stays safe, the GSO is currently focusing on online education programming. Be sure to visit the GSO Video library here to see what we’re working on. As soon as it’s safe to get everyone together for live concerts again, we’ll let you know!”

The Children’s Concert is our biggest educational outreach program each year, and provides the authentic cultural experience of attending a Masterworks Series concert in the grand Peace Center Concert Hall to 3,000 – 4,000 Greenville County elementary and home-schooled students free of charge.  Click here for more information on this year’s concert on Friday, April 3, 2020.

Please note, the 10:00 a.m. concert is full; limited seats remain for the 12:00 noon concert — please email Braxton Ballew by Thursday, March 12, 2020 to reserve seats to the 12:00 noon concert (home school and private schools are welcome!).

The Children’s Concert presented by Michelin North America partnership includes two 45- to 50-minute full orchestra performances conducted by Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel, with a special classical repertoire coordinated with what the orchestra is already doing that season and designed with primarily fourth- and fifth-graders in mind. Additionally, two lucky students are selected from the “Tchivzhel Challenge” and get to conduct the GSO during this concert!

For many students, this exceptional school field trip is their first opportunity to attend the Upstate’s premiere, six-acre performing arts center downtown. While there is no charge to participants, schools that are not Title I must negotiate their own transportation. All Title I schools are paid for in full.
