The Greenville Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for the position of Concertmaster and Section String Positions (scroll down beneath Concertmaster audition information for Section String audition information).

CONCERTMASTER AUDITION INFORMATION

AUDITION DATE: Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Receiving resumes beginning March 1, 2018
Resume deadline and invitations to audition will be sent no later than April 10, 2018.

Repertoire:

Solos:
Mozart Concerto Nos. 3, 4, or 5; (movement 1 with cadenza)
Major 19th or 20th century concerto of choice; (movement 1 with cadenza)

Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade, all solos
Rimsky-Korsakov: Capriccio Espagnol, all solos
R. Strauss: Ein Heldenleben; Reh. 22-Reh. 39; Reh. 106 to the end
R. Strauss: Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme: movement 4 (Entrance and Dance of Tailors); all solos

Final round candidates will play 1st violin on Mozart’s Divertimento No. 1 in D major, K. 136 with the other string principals.

In addition to displaying artistry in performance, the optimal candidate will be expected to energetically interact with our audiences, GSA Board, and donors.  The GSO concertmaster is expected to engage with chamber music audiences and with children in educational programs.  Please select the “CONCERTS” tab on our website to view all of our concert programming.

SECTION & SUBSTITUTE STRING AUDITION INFORMATION

Auditions tentatively scheduled for May 30 & 31, 2018 (approximately 88 services for section positions).

The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for SUBSTITUTE/EXTRA MUSICIANS (string instruments)
Minimum $91.00 section per service rate ($86 fee +$5 electronic media compensation per service – mileage and per diem, paid when applicable).

Auditions will be held in the Gunter Theatre located on The Peace Center for the Performing Arts campus – 320 South Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601.

A one (1) page resume clearly marked with AUDITION, MAY 2018 must be received in the GSO office by Friday, May 4, 2018.  The application and additional information will be sent after your resume is received.  Please send via email, fax, or US Postal Service to Audition Coordinator at:

If invited to audition, a $75 deposit is required to secure an audition time (check made payable to Greenville Symphony Orchestra, refunded at time of audition or if notice of cancellation is received by Monday, May 21, 2018).  Please do not send this check with your resume.
