Once Upon An Orchestra

Edda: A Little Valkyrie’s First Day of School

Tuesday, May 8, 2018
10:00 a.m.
South Carolina Children’s Theatre
1200 Pendleton Street
Greenville, SC 29611

Featuring Anneka Zuehlke-King, Principal Horn

Edda is a Valkyrie (an ancient Norse goddess who guides and protects heroes).  She lives in a magical land called Asgard where she has everything she wants.  Well…almost everything.  Edda wants to find a friend her own age.  Edda’s wise papa knows of a place where she can make friends: a place on Earth called “school.”

School is very different from Asgard.  Edda’s not sure if she likes it at first.  But then she remembers that Valkyries are very brave.  Even little Valkyries.  Edda learns that being different is what makes her special and she begins to make new friends.

About “Once Upon An Orchestra”
What do you get when you combine Greenville Symphony Orchestra’s music education program with South Carolina Children’s Theatre’s “Tell Me A Story” Theatre?  You get, “Once Upon An Orchestra!”

This performance series connects the children in your life to stories, music, and movement.  Not only will young people be exposed to inspiring classical music, they will experience the connection stories make to these musical masterpieces!  Best of all, we take turns!  First, we perform for you, and then young people are invited to engage in a dramatic interpretation of moments or ideas in both the music and the story.  Come imagine with us!

Performances are FREE and start at 10:00 a.m.  Programs are appropriate for children 2 to 5 years old (slightly younger than Lollipops).

For more information or to sign up to receive email reminders about concerts for children, contact Dr. Braxton Ballew, GSO Education Director at (864) 232-0344 extension 19 or via email at braxton@greenvillesymphony.org.
