#GivingTuesday: Tuesday, November 28, 2017
The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is proud once again to be a part of #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, November 28, 2017!
#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. Millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
We have two days for getting deals: Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On #GivingTuesday, we have a day for giving back. Together, people are creating a new ritual for our annual calendar. #GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season: a reminder of the “reason for the season.”
#GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world.
In the spirit of #GivingTuesday and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra’s 70th concert season, we invite you to invest in the future of our Orchestra by helping us reach our goal of $7,000 in donations on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
Did you know that subscription and ticket sales only account for one-third of our annual total operation expenses, or that we never charge an admission fee for any of our educational concerts or programs? The remaining two-thirds of our operating expenses are covered by grants, corporate contributions, and individual giving, such as yours. Help us today!
How can you be a part of #GivingTuesday? Here are a few simple ideas:
- “Share the Music” on #GivingTuesday by clicking here and making an online donation through our website (or call the GSO administrative office at 864-232-0344 extension 122). By purchasing “shares” of music, the GSO can send groups of musicians into unexpected places (public spaces, outdoor venues, etc.) throughout our community. These impromptu “pop-up” performances have the power to expose the GSO to thousands of people who may have never had the opportunity to experience the joy of live, orchestral music. With your help, we can reach our goal of $7,000 to honor the 70th anniversary of the GSO!
$25 = 1 share of music
8 shares of music = solo musician performance
16 shares of music = duet performance
24 shares of music = trio performance
32 shares of music = quartet performance
40 shares of music = quintet performance
80 shares of music = 2 quintet performances!
You can make a one-time #GivingTuesday donation or you can set up monthly payments, if you prefer.
- Help us get the word out on social media by visiting the Greenville Symphony Orchestra Facebook page to post why you love the GSO! Be sure to use the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
- Purchase tickets to one of our upcoming “Holiday at Peace” concerts: Friday, December 15th and Saturday, December 16th at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, December 17th at 3:00 pm. Buy tickets online to “Holiday at Peace” by clicking here or by calling the Peace Center Box Office at (864) 467-3000. Click here to learn more about “Holiday at Peace.”
- Do something kind for another person!
Whatever gift you are able to give will be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions about how your contribution will make a difference to the GSO, please feel free to contact the GSO’s Development Director, Linda Grandy, directly at (864) 232-0344 extension 122 or via email.
Thanks for GIVING!
