Michelin Children's Concert

Each year, the Greenville Symphony Orchestra presents an educational version of one of our Masterworks Series concerts for Greenville County Elementary students. Past productions have included a fully staged production of Igor Stravinsky's ballet Petrushka, a celebration of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 250th birthday featuring a selection of his masterpieces, and an introduction to the orchestra featuring Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. The Greenville Symphony's Education Director provides teacher resource packets for download free of charge throughout the school year.

In 2008, thanks to a new partnership with Michelin, the Greenville Symphony Michelin Children's Concert will take place on March 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The concert, conducted by Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel, will feature excerpts from Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and complete performances of George Gershwin's An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue with guest pianist Stewart Goodyear and will be presented to Greenville County fourth graders free of charge.
