Presented by The Greenville News, the Chamber Orchestra Series delivers patrons uniquely intimate performances of a renowned assortment of classical repertoire. The talents of GSO soloists are showcased alongside a select chamber orchestra in the 400-seat Gunter Theatre, and these programs are accentuated by personal insights from GSO’s very own world-class Music Director and Conductor, Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel. Performances are held Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm.

INSPIRED BY THE CLASSICS
(February 10-12, 2017)
Featuring Prokofiev’s First Symphony. These three great composers of the 19th and 20th centuries pay tribute to their classical predecessors with these witty, sparkling compositions, masterfully imitating the Baroque style. Yet, you’ll still notice distinct flavors of German expressionism, sweet nostalgia of Russian romanticism, and some “spices” of 20th century modernism.
(March 24-26, 2017)
Our final chamber orchestra concert of the season presents four brilliant composers (the fourth “mystery” composer will be revealed at the concert!) especially known for their exciting and extraordinary music from movies and theater. Featuring two of the GSO’s virtuoso soloists, Amy Yang Hazlett and Stephen Wilson, this one-of-a-kind program promises an unforgettable performance with a shocking surprise!
