Tim Easter

Principal Double Bass

Tim Easter received a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from Furman University in 1985 as a student of Peter Rickett, Conductor Emeritus of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his role as Principal Double Bass of the GSO, he also serves as Principal Double Bass of the SC Philharmonic in Columbia, Principal Double Bass of the Augusta Opera and as Assistant Principal Double Bass of the Spartanburg Philharmonic. He also served for many years as Principal and Assistant Principal Double Bass of the Augusta Symphony and currently freelances for many bass sections in the tri-state area, including Charleston and Charlotte.

Easter has appeared as soloist with the LA Piano Quartet, and his involvement in double bass has allowed him to work with bassists Edgar Meyer, Hal Robinson and Jack Budrow.

He teaches double bass at Furman University and taught for eight years at the University of South Carolina.

Easter plays a full sized master copy of a Domenico Montagnana, circa 1750's, made by master luthier Barrie Kolstein. His "day job" includes a long tenure in sales at Northampton Wines in downtown Greenville. His hobbies also include golf, cycling and cooking.
